Don't Let your Mind be Mean to you!

for You and about You

The only thing that is unchanging in your life,
The only thing that is permanent,
         Not even diamonds are forever
Is your sense of being,
Is your sense of self.
It is your awareness of being a Self.

It is to know that there is a Me
Somewhere inside you.
At the Center of your universe.
Me is awareness; Me is your sense of self.
Me is your awareness of existing.

To sink beneath the tumultuous rumbling of your
         Fear and fiction,
              Misunderstanding and mistakes,
                   Ignorance and selfishness,
To sink beneath the pettiness and pleasures,
         Of our obstacles and distractions,
              The unending layers of thought
                   That define your “I,”

Is to sink
Through the portal of your sense of Self
And into the sweet ocean
Of Divine Radiance that is your natural state.

The depth of the Soul that is
You
Is unchanging,
Everything else is perception.
Everything else is an object arising in the field of your awareness.
You are the Center of your own universe.
Perception is the sum of your thoughts and sensations,

Perception is the collection of your feelings and observations.
But all of those things arise outside of awareness,
Outside of your sense of Self.

If you center your attention
In your sense of self,
You can draw a line
From that place to all other places,
From that space to all other spaces,
     From your sense of Self,
         To everything else,
              Everywhere else.

You are the seer
And everything else is what is seen.

This means that all the confusion that you may feel
About sex or religion,
Or life and love and relationship,
Or being a mother, or a student,
Being a father or a teacher,
Or everything else, anything else,
Is
Without exception,
Nothing more than ideas and thoughts that you keep alive
By putting attention on them.

Stop.

This means that all the fears that you may feel
Are
Without exception,
Nothing more than ideas and thoughts that you keep alive
By putting attention on them.

Stop.

If you cut the power, the thought cannot remain.
The power of your attention is what feeds a thought.

         Stop.

If you cut the power, the thought cannot remain.
What does remain is
         Peace and Radiance,
         Hope and Joy.

Your mind tells you, I am a sinner
Your mind tells you, No I'm not
Both are thoughts.
Your mind tells you
I am right and you are wrong
Both are thoughts.

         Stop.

Your mind tells you, I’m not worthy or
Worth it or
Deserving or
Good enough.
All are thoughts.

         Stop.
Cut the power.

Thoughts arise like a child blowing bubbles.
The bubble gets bigger and bigger
As long as you keep blowing.
It does not pop.
Stop
Blowing,
Cut off the air and the bubble of thought cannot grow.
Thoughts are bubbles in your head
If you blow air into them they grow
And they grow,
And they grow.
Keep doing that long enough and they become a belief
They become an idea
Beliefs and ideas live on
Sticky
Clinging
Even without blowing air into them anymore.

And they Bubble up
Over
            And Over

                        And Over.

But if you take them out
If you poke them with
         Awareness
From your true Self,
From the impeachable center of Self
Within You,
         If you examine them,
         You can change them,
         For
You are not your thoughts.

You cannot be your thoughts,
Since you can perceive yourself thinking.
You can see thoughts arising
You can see a thought Bubble up.
If it is a new thought and you notice it
Bubbling up
And you

         Stop

Feeding it attention
If you

         Stop

Blowing air into it
It pops.
It poofs into nothingness.
I've seen this hundreds of times.

It is easy to pop a new thought.
Notice that you are thinking it and
Stop blowing,
Cut the power,
Give it no more attention
And it falls back into the mind,
Gone.

Ideas and beliefs are just thoughts
That have been fed attention,
Thoughts that are bought into,
Attached to,
Believed,
Until like Frankenstein’s monster,
They are alive
         Sticky
         Clinging
Clogging up your Soul.

And they Bubble up
         Over
                And Over
                     And Over.

But they are still just thoughts,
We don't have to keep on paying them mind.

We can just say no.

Every time we notice the thought forming,
         Bubbling up
Which can be hundreds of times in a row
We can just stop thinking it.
Do this long enough,
The thought will fade away,

No matter
How deeply
The thought has been engraved on your neural network,

You can extinguish it.
This is the higher path
To the place without confusion,
To the land without fear,
Filled with joy and wonder.

All the endless thoughts
And beliefs
And ideas
Take up space.

They clutter up the container
That is your Soul.
They sputter and Shout
Murmur and mumble
Complain and cry.
They make a great and tumultuous
Noise
On the energy planes.

All that space and all that noise
Drown out the still, small whisper
         Crash down the gate
         And slam the door.

All that space and all that noise

Foils the Divine from flooding in and filling us
         With Joy and Wonder
              With Peace and Love
                   With quiet, enduring contentment.

So, empty the container that is your Soul
Empty the space that is your mind
Stop the endless noise and clutter,
Bad Feng Shui.

Relax into stillness
And your Soul and your Mind
Are filled with something Greater
Something Brighter
Than you could have imagined or created.

I don't know how else to say it
But this is the Way
Out of confusion
Out of doubt
This is the Way
Away from your hurt
Or anger or fear
I'm not there yet
But I have tasted it,
Like a spoonful of gelato
Before buying a cone.

With Love and Aloha,
Holman
